James Lynch Ryan
James Lynch Ryan, 72, died Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Savannah Beach Rehab and Nursing Home after years of failing health.
He became a barber after graduating from Jenkins High School. Ryan, known to many as Jimmy, was best remembered as a barber at Pete’s Barber Shop on Montgomery Crossroad. He had also worked at the Hunter Army Airfield Barber Shop.
Surviving are his daughter, Kathleen R. Ryan of Warren, N.J., two sisters, Mary Ryan Chandler of Tybee Island and Ellen Ryan Cliett of Whitemarsh Island; and three brothers, Joseph V. Ryan Jr., Capt. William J. Ryan of Dallas, GA, and Eugene Coburn Ryan of Pooler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Capt. Joseph V. Ryan Sr. and Kathleen Coburn Ryan, and two siblings, Frank C. Ryan and Kathleen (Kay) C. Ryan, both of Savannah.
Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2017 with a Rosary Service at 4:00 p.m., at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel.
Graveside Service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2017 at the Catholic Cemetery.
